Profile: Breakdown

Allegiance: Decepticon, Stunticon

Breakdown is a paranoid, wreckless bundle of nervous energy. His neuroses make him constantly fear that he's being watched, which in turn causes his violent outbursts. He also has a habit of mispronouncing or mixing up his words. Words like "mortifying" and "predicted" become "mortifrying" and "preducted" when Breakdown begins having a panic attack.

Breakdown was created by Megatron and programmed by Vector Sigma, along with his Stunticon brothers. The Decepticons needed to bolster their ground support on Earth, so Megatron commissioned the creation of the Stunticons by having Rumble steal various Earth vehicles, which were then used as vehicular modes for the new Decepticons.

Breakdown returned to Earth with his fellow Stunticons, and began a groud-level reign of terror, until the battled the Autobots' new air force. the Aerialbots. The Stunticons then merged to form the giant robot Menasor, but the Aerialbots countered by joining to form Superion. The battle was going in Menasor's favor, until the Guardian robot Omega Supreme intervened.

After that, Breakdown and the Stunticons were captured by the Autobots because they carried cargo intended for Megatron's newest weapon. Several Autobots then disguised themselves as the Stunticons and sabotaged the weapon's components. Breakdown, though, figured out how to break out of the Autobot's brig, and the Stunticons got loose. After trashing the Autobot base, Menasor went to confront the Stunticon imposters. With their ruse uncovered, the Autobots were forced to form a false Menasor, who was easily defeated by the real Decepticon giant. The other Autobots arrived, and with his weapon useless, Megatron ordered a retreat.

Breakdown also assisted in the abduction of the Autobot scientist, Perceptor. Megatron had become infected by the metallic plague known as Cosmic Rust. Perceptor used his new invention Corrostop to cure the disease and save the Decepticon leader. He also participated in search for the Pearl of Bahoudin and the fraudulent race, the Europa 5000. Breakdown and the other Stunticons thwarted a coup by Starscream, by defeating the treacherous Decepticon's Combaticon giant, Bruticus.

Breakdown continued to serve in Megatron's army for decades after his creation. Eventually the Decepticons were expelled from Earth, but they completely took over their homeworld, Cybertron. Breakdown and the Stunticons weren't present at the siege of Autobot City in 2005. They next appeared after the Decepticons' evacuation from Cybertron, when the military faction regrouped on the planet Charr. They led a meager existence, low on fuel and other resources, until the Quintessons arrived.

The Quintessons offered the Decepticons Energon in exchange for service, which was short-lived, when the Decepticon leader Galvatron returned. Breakdown and the Stunticons continued to work behind enemy lines on Earth as well as on Charr. Breakdown was last seen as the Hate Plague spread from Earth across the Galaxy.
