Profile: Brainstorm

Allegiance: Autobot, Headmaster

Brainstorm's origin is unknown. He seems to be a young Autobot, because he is undisciplined and a bit immature. Despite those factors, Brainstorm is a genius. If he were human he'd be considered a prodigy.

Brainstorm's talents first came to light in his experiments to show how humans could be used to enhance an Autobot's performance in vehicular mode. He had trouble figuring out what to do with the human, though, when the Autobot would return to robot mode.

After an accident with the Plasma Energy Chamber flung Brainstorm and his Autobot comrades (as well as Spike and Daniel Witwicky) across the Galaxy to the planet Nebulos he discovered the answer. With the help of the Nebulan rebel scientist Arcana, he developed the Binary Bonding process, where a humanoid's mechanical exosuit could transform into an Autobot's head when their robotic partner changed into robot mode. This process allowed the Autobots' strength and firepower to be coupled with the Nebulan rebels' knowledge and experience in battling Nebulos' oppressive regime, The Hive.

Brainstorm binary bonded to Arcana to become a Headmaster. The Hive discovered what had happened and captured some Decepticons to bond with. As they battled the Hive and their Decepticon partners, Brainstorm scanned the Decepticon Targetmasters, and incorporated that technology into some of the Autobots' weapons.

Brainstorm and Arcana battled Scorponok both on Nebulos and on Cybertron for the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. After the crisis was over, Brainstorm returned to Nebulos with the Autobot Headmasters and Targetmasters aboard Fortress Maximus to rid the planet of the Hive's Machines.
