Profile: Shawn Berger

Allegiance: Decepticon sympathizer

Shawn Berger was a power-hungry businessman/politician who threw in his hat with the Decepticons when Megatron approached him, proclaiming the Decepticons' innocence. Megatron claimed that Autobot propaganda and trickery made the Decepticons appear to be evil, when in fact the Autobots were actually the robots seeking to plunder the Earth. Berger's belief in the true innocence of the Decepticons is dubious, since he agrees to go along with with Megatron, if the Decepticons will give him two cities in return.

Berger, angry because he lost the mayoral election of Central City and tired of being upstaged by the Autobots, uses faked videos of the Autobots stealing fuel and using mind-control devices to make the Decepticons attack humans to discredit the Autobots, and eventually have them put on trial. The Autobots were found guilty and sentenced to banishment from Earth. Berger provided the Autobots with a spacecraft, leaving the Decepticons on the Earth, with no resistance.

Berger championed the Decepticons' public relations, proclaiming them as heroes. Megatron took Berger into Autobot headquarters, where Megatron then reprogrammed the ship's flight path, sending it into the Sun. Megatron and berger watched as the ship was disintegrated as it approached the Sun. All seemed to go well until the Decepticons scheduled a press conference, where they proclaimed that they intended to drain all of Earth's resources. Berger was revealed as a traitor to humanity, and appeared to suffer from a nervous breakdown. Berger was enslaved, along with the other humans in Central City, renaming the town Megatronia I. The Autobots survived the destruction of Berger's Ship thanks to Trailbreaker's force field and Cosmos' piloting. The Autobots returned to Earth and freed Central City. Berger, though repentant, was forced to stand trial for his crimes.
