Profile: Blaster

Allegiance: Autobot

Blaster functions as the Autobot Communicator, the nexus for all Autobot communications. He travelled aboard Optimus Prime's expedition for energy when it crashed on Earth. He lay dormant in stasis until he was repaired and reactivated 4 million years later.

Blaster quickly absorbed human culture, rivalling Jazz as the Autobots' human culture afficianado. When he wasn't fighting Decepticons or relaying information he frequently played loud music throughout the Autobot Volcano headquarters, much to the disdain of many Autobots.

On one of his early missions, Blaster tried to destroy the mischievous electricity elemental named Kremzeek, but his efforts only made things worse since he caused Kremzeek to multiply. On more domestic missions he was often teamed up with Tracks, through whom he met the young human rogue Raoul. Often he found himself at odds with the Decepticon Communicator, Soundwave.

Blaster's penchant for loud music proved helpful on several occasions during the war. Once, when he was abducted by Megatron and forced to jam all communications on Earth, Blaster broadcast rock music over Megatron's demands, undermining his plan, and signalling the Autobots to his location. Another time, when the seemingly indestructible and unstoppable Morphobots set root on the Earth, Blaster used blaring music to repel the robotic plants, and saved Cosmos from their grip. He also went on the mission to Vector Sigma and assisted in the creation of the Aerialbots.

Blaster continued battling the Decepticons on Earth and Cybertron. Blaster was stationed in Autobot City, after the Autobots' Earth colony was established. He also gained a number of companions, similar to Soundwave's, whom he would carry within his chest, and functioned as his subordinates, namely Eject, Rewind, Steeljaw and Ramhorn. Together they helped defend Autobot City during the siege of 2005. Blaster sent the distress signal that called reinforcements and saved the city. Later he travelled back in time and assisted in the slave rebellion which overthrew the Quintessons. Blaster's missions took him to many strange worlds, as well. He was in the group that discovered the Harmonic Weapon and the musical world of Allegra, Zeebop Scandana and Basso Profundo. He also went on a rescue mission to the magical world of Minonia and to the carnivorous vegetation world in the Angalic sector to retrieve the Quintesson Journal. He nearly died when he was attacked by the Hate Plague infected Superion, and he ventured into the depths of Charr with Optimus Prime and Galvatron to retrieve the Morgan-Swafford Alloy, which was necessary to stop the Hate Plague.

What became of Blaster after the trip to Charr is unknown, since he was infected with the Hate Plague, and if he survived he was cured.Goldbug, who was with him and infected alongside Blaster, was seen alive later, but Blaster was not seen after the incident. It is very likely, though, that Blaster survived into the New Golden Age of Cybertron.
