Profile: Bombshell

Allegiance: Decepticon, Insecticon

Bombshell is a perverse, mind-twisting sociopath. His greatest pleasure is forcing others to obey him against their own will. He came to Earth, along with his companions Kickback and Shrapnel, in an escape pod from the Decepticon Spacecruiser that attacked the Autobot ship. The pod landed on the Pacific island that is now known as Bali. It's computer adapted the trio to Earth by giving them alternate modes that resemble insects and they began calling themselves the Insecticons . They also gained the ability to ingest organic and inorganic matter and convert it into Energon, though it is unknown whether this came from the escape pod's computer or from later retooling from the Insecticons themselves.

Bombshell's expertise is in psychological warfare, though he also has talents as a mechanic and engineer. His favorite weapons are his Cerebros Shells, which function by being fired into the victim's head, which allows the Cerebro Shell to override the victim's brain, causing them to become Bombshell's slave. Bombshell enjoys forcing his slaves to betray that which they loved and relishes forcing them to perform debasing and humiliating tasks.

The Insecticons are a fiercely independent group, though sometimes Bombshell lends his talents to Megatron's use, if the pay is right. Bombshell rewired, reprogrammed and overclocked the human-made ninja robot Nightbird for Megatron. Bombshell also assisted Megatron in the attack upon the human military base called Iron Mountain. Bombshell and the other Insecticons had injested the Nova Power Core, which caused them to grow in size and power. Greater power gave them greater ambition, and soon Bombshell had all of the Decepticons involved implanted with Cerebro Shells, except for Megatron. The Insecticons' usurping of the Decepticons was undone, though, when the Nova Power Core that changed them became unstable and threatened to destroy them. Bombshell's and Kickback's molecular instability was cured by the Autobots and Megatron, but Sharpnel exploded. Bombshell's ingenuity saved his companion, as one of Bombshell's devices caused Shrapnel to reassemble and reactivate.

More of a threat than Bombshell's Cerebro Shells was the ability that the Insecticons possessed to clone themselves out of any base metals and scrap. Not only did it make it extremely difficult to ascertain which Insecticons attacking were the originals, but the sheer numbers that the Insecticons could amass was staggering. Insecticon hordes would descend upon populated areas, farms and forests, devouring all that lay in their path. Megatron would then harvest the Energon created by the Insecticons and their clones to fuel the Decepticons. The Insecticon swarm grew so vast that it actually threatened the survival of humanity, just from the amount of resources and material they devoured. The advent of the carnivorous alien plants called Morphobots greatly decreased the size of the Insecticon swarm, and eventually the Insecticons were completely expelled from Earth.

In 2005, Bombshell and the other Insecticons participated in the great siege of Autobot City, under Megatron's command. It appeared that the Insecticons fell during that battle, as they were thrown out with the wounded as Astrotrain travelled through space, and were reformed by Unicron into warriors to serve Galvatron. Appearances can be deceiving, though, especially when dealing with Bombshell and the other Insecticons, for in later battles on the Planet of Junk the Insecticons reappeared. They were also present on Charr and participated in the attempt to keep Blurr and Wheelie from delivering Metroplex's Transformation Cog when Trypticon attacked Autobot City. It is possible that the Insecticons shown ejected from Astrotrain were clones, though perhaps Bombshell and his cohorts have many more tricks up their sleeves.
