Profile: Aerialbots

Allegiance: Autobot

The Aerialbots were created in 1986 by a team of Autobots, Optimus Prime, Alpha Trion, Ratchet, Wheeljack, Hoist, Wheeljack, Ironhide and Blaster and programmed by Vector Sigma, to bolster Autobot air defenses as well as an answer to Megatron's ground force team, the Stunticons. Alpha Trion gave up his life to activate Vector Sigma, by merging with it, so that the Aerialbots could be given life. In addition to being the first air team of the Autobots, the Aerialbots are also the Autobots' first combiner. Together Silverbolt, Slingshot, Air Raid, Skydive and Fireflight merge to form the giant, Superion. Superion's primary function is to negate the Stunticon combiner, Menasor.

Initially, the Aerialbots were rebellious, resented taking orders from their Autobot creators, and even showed great respect for their adversaries, the Decepticons, except for the Aerialbot commander, Silverbolt. This continued until the Aerialbots were tricked by Starscream and Megatron into entering the Kronosphere, which was set to propel them back in time, to a point before the universe's existence. That trip was cut short by Autobot intervention, and instead, the Aerialbots were deposited in Iacon, 9 million years in the past, to the Golden Age of Cybertron.

There, they witnessed the beginnings of the 3rd Cybertronian War, and met a young Autobot named Orion Pax, who also admired the Decepticons. All seemed well until a Decepticon sneak attack occured. Orion Pax, his female companion, Arial, and his friend Dion were all badly damaged by Megatron and his troops. The Aerialbots were able to save Orion Pax and Arial by taking them to Alpha Trion. The two wounded Autobots were rebuilt as Optimus Prime and Elita-1. The Aerialbots were returned to 1986 by the Autobots, and in turn defeated a re-animated headless Guardian that Megatron sought to use to destroy the Autobots and the Kronosphere. From that day forward the Aerialbots were the sworn enemies of the Decepticons.

The Aerialbots continued to battle the Decepticons, and later the Quintessons as well, well into the year 2006. They helped foil a Quintesson attempt to control the minds of the Junkions, and were among the party first infected with the Hate Plague by Gregory Swafford and Mark Morgan. In 2007 they fought to prevent Galvatron from invading Cybertron, though they fell, next to Ultra Magnus. Though Ultra Magnus was seen alive and well later, whether or not the Aerialbots were revived is a mystery, as their current status is unknown.
