Profile: Dr. Archeville
Allegiance: Decepticon sympathizer
Dr. Archeville (also spelled Archevil, Arkavil and Arkabil) is a Tesla-esque scientist who threw his lot in with the Decepticons, in hopes that he would rule the Earth once Megatron lost interest in the planet. He designed and invented mind-control devices called Hypnochips which would suspend the free will of any human to whom they were attached. Dr. Archeville used the Autobot ally, Sparkplug Witwicky, as his guinea pig for the Hypnochips. He successfully turned the human against the Autobots and against his own son, Spike Witwicky.
Dr. Archeville gathered more and more slaves with the help of the Decepticon, Laserbeak, and soon he controlled many humans from his super-computer. Most of the humans were used as menial workers, building structures to gather Energon Cubes, or simply as pack animals, loading shuttles full of the cubes. Others, though were used as human shields to prevent the Autobots from attacking Decepticon installations, and still others were used to outright attack the Autobots if they approached.
Dr. Archeville was eventually discarded by Megatron, once the Decepticons gained their own super-computer capable of controlling their human slaves, though Starscream still saw potential use for the scientist.
After the hypnochips were deactivated by the Autobots, and Megatron presumed lost in space, Starscream had the Doctor take him to the scientist's secret laboratory. There Starscream found Archeville's Exponential Generator. Starscream set the Exponential Generator to a timer, so that within the pre-set time period, the generator would reach infinite capacity, exploding and destroying the Earth, and all life, organic and Cybertronian, upon it. From there, Starscream would gather the energy and revitalize Cybertron.
In a change of heart, Dr. Archeville sought to save the Earth from Starscream's plan, but instead he was severely injured by the security systems on the Decepticon master computer on Cybertron. Decepticon medicroids tried to repair Archeville, but instead turned him into a bizarre cyborg. Starscream made sure that Dr. Archeville was immobilized, strapped into a wheelchair, so that he could no longer meddle in the Decepticon's plans. Starscream's plans, though, were foiled by Optimus Prime and Megatron, when they discovered and launched the Exponential Generator into space before it could explode.
