Profile: Chip Chase

Allegiance: Autobot Sympathizer

Chip Chase is a human prodigy that has allied himself with the Autobots. He's proven time and again that he is not only useful, but important to the Autobots' goals on Earth, despite being paralyzed. The Decepticons often underestimate him because of his handicap, and have paid the price of failure because of their hubris.

By all rights Chip is at least a genius, and his mental abilities have made him invaluable. Chip originally worked with Dr. Alchezar on the Antimatter project. He was introduced to the Autobots by his friend, Spike Witwicky, and invited Spike and Bumblebee to the lab in which he worked. The Decepticons found out about the Antimatter Formula, and attacked the lab. Dr. Alchezar uploaded the antimatter forumla to Chip's home computer and deleted the files at the lab. The Decepticons traced the upload and attacked Chip's house.

Chip, at home on his computer, received a distress call from Prowl. Chip used his computer to remotely supplement Prowl's damaged systems, and helped Prowl defeat his Decepticon adversaries. Chip received the Antimatter Formula just before the Decepticons arrived. Though Chip destroyed the files, his photographic memory proved to be his undoing. Soundwave was able to telepathically extract the formula from Chip's mind. Later, as the Decepticons attack the Autobots, with Megatron functioning as an Antimatter Gun, Chip used Override Links and Teletraan-1 to thwart the Decepticons and use the Antimatter against them.

Additionally, Chip has proved his worth on several occasions. He traveled with the Autobots back to Cybertron, via the Spacebridge, in order to retrieve a Cosmotron to save Optimus Prime's life. His quick thinking saved the Autobots from a Decepticon acid rain attack. Chip also helped design the Dinobots Snarl and Swoop. Chip also used one of Wheeljack's inventions to reverse the effects of the Transfixatron on the Autobots, saving their lives. Chip also worked with Wheeljack on the creation of the Dominator Disks, which were used to temporarily place Devastator under Autobot control. It was also Chip who discovered that strange time portals were linked to Dinobot Island, and uncovered another Decepticon energy gathering operation.

Probably Chip's toughest mission was during the Decepticon occupation of Earth. The Decepticons fooled Earth's authorities into believing that the Autobots were evil would-be conquerors, causing the Autobots to be banished from the Earth. Megatron reset Teletraan-1's controls to guide the Autobots' spacecraft (provided by Shawn Berger) into the Sun. When it appeared that the ship was destroyed, the Decepticons promptly enslaved all humans within Central City, forcing them to work in Energon facilities. The Autobots survived, thanks to Trailbreaker's forcefield, but their course, controlled remotely by Teletraan-1 via Cosmos, still led them to the Sun. Chip escaped from one such camp and made it all the way to the the Autobot Volcano. He discovered that the Autobot spacecraft was destroyed. Thrust arrived to capture Chip, and damaged Teletraan-1 in the process, releasing the Autobots from its control. The Autobots were then able to return to Earth and free humanity from Decepticon enslavement.

Time and again Chip Chase showed that anyone can overcome their disabilities and be a hero if they put their mind to it.
